Boys returning from Belgium 1949

Some of the older boys were lucky enough to be chosen to go to Belgium for two weeks in 1949. They stayed with grateful Belgium families.

Here they are seen returning to Hendon airfield in a Dakota aircraft. Only three or four of these boys were at VCS - Kennett, De Voile, Peter Martin, Michael Valentine can be picked out. It is not clear where the other boys came from (Duke of Kent’s School?).

The windows of the plane show the plugholes & stoppers (on strings). The stoppers would only stay in when the plane was flying.
